Westchester Youth Program

Westchester County Bowling Associations have been supporting youth bowling for over 40 years.  Prior to 2006, the Westchester Men’s, Women’s and Junior Associations, staffed with numerous individual volunteers as well as bowling proprietors, have developed bowling programs throughout the county to enable our youth to participate in the sport of bowling.  Their enthusiasm has also led our local youth bowlers to participate in NY State tournaments.  In 2006, when the individual associations merged into the single Westchester County USBCA, we continued our commitment to our youth.

Our programs coach our youth in the sport of bowling, encourage them to participate in the many competitive tournaments held at the local and state level, teach them the many aspects of good sportsmanship and the importance of respecting others, allow them to build friendships and team building skills, enable them to feel a sense of pride in their bowling accomplishments, and provide them with the opportunity to win monetary scholarships that could be used to fund their future education.

These programs include:

  • Saturday morning youth leagues sponsored by the individual bowling centers, that include coaching for all ages and skill levels
  • Westchester County Junior Bowling Tour – a series of tournaments for youth of all ages
  • Westchester County USBC Annual Scholarship Tournament - sponsored by our Proprietors, with added money in scholarships
  • Westchester County USBC Junior Championship Tournament – annual county tournament
  • Westchester County USBC Adult/Junior Tournament – annual county tournament
  • NY State Tournaments – Team, Adult/Junior and Pepsi

Through support from our Westchester County USBC, corporate sponsors, personal donations, entry fees and fund-raising events, we can award education scholarships.  Scholarship funds are accumulated over time as awarded and saved under the National USBC SMART program, which ensures that the funds follow the youth bowler no matter where they earn them. These funds are then available to our youth bowlers once they have graduated high school and can be used towards college or trade school tuition.  Refer to the YOUTH CHAMPIONS page of our website to see the scholarships awarded.

At the New York State level, their 3 sponsored tournaments also award scholarships, including additional scholarships to graduating high school seniors.  Additionally, at the National level, USBC also awards numerous scholarships.  Refer to the YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP page of our website for more information.

Champions are honored at the end of each season at an awards dinner.

We encourage you to consider involving your child in a youth program by contacting your local bowling center (see the bowling center page of our website) or by contacting our association office (see contact us page of our website).  The season starts in September and ends in April, but you can start at any time.
